Avengers: Infinity War (April 27)

Out of every other movie on this list, this is widely thought to be the most anticipated movie of 2018. If the first trailer is anything to go by, it’s not one to be missed!

The Avengers Infinity War

In the past decade since it launched the Marvel Universe with 2008’s Iron Man, this will be Marvel’s most ambitious project yet: a film that unites every single protagonist introduced in its 17-picture run. It may seem impossible to pull off without bewildering an audience, but directors Joe and Anthony Russo pulled off a similar trick in their previous jam-packed Marvel outing, Captain America: Civil War.

avengers infinity war

If you’ve not seen any of the other Marvel movies, don’t worry as it isn’t vital for this film, but if you want to watch them before this film comes out, there is an order to watch them all in to get the full story!

Did you know? Tom Holland was not allowed to read the script to the film, due to him accidentally revealing too many secrets for Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017). A brilliant superhero, but a rubbish secret keeper!

However, as Ally’s career quickly eclipses his own, Jackson finds it more and more difficult to handle his fading glory. He starts to realize that his best days may be behind him.

A Star Is Born 2018

With musical performances by Cooper and Gaga shot at Coachella and the U.K.’s Glastonbury Festival last year, expect the movie to hew closely in style and substance to 1976’s Barbra Streisand–Kris Kristofferson incarnation.

Venom (October 5)

Following the character’s role in 2007s Spider-Man 3, it’s Tom Hardy’s turn to inhabit the role and hope to reignite the fear in Venom. Eddie Brock finds himself enveloped by a symbiotic alien that imbues its host with incredible powers such as super strength, spontaneous mutation and the ability to develop new powers.

venom

Venom is an outlier in the world of comic book movies. With the Marvel universe growing at an insane rate, it’s rather unfortunate that Venom isn’t included – as much as Sony would like him to be (Sony own the rights to Venom, rather than Marvel). However, the idea of a solo film starring a character who is predominantly known as a villain will most likely draw in large audiences.

This movie follows the plot of both “The Lethal Protector” comic book series that spanned from February to July in ’93, and ’95s “The Planet of the Symbiotes” storylines!

tom hardy

A lot of the film is currently under wraps, but, if successful, it could kickstart a Sony-led cinematic universe with the  three characters not owned by Marvel. If nothing else, it’s packing a killer cast: Hardy is joined by Rogue One’s Riz Ahmed, the Han Solo movie’s Woody Harrelson, and Oscar nominee Michelle Williams. While we see next to nothing of Venom himself in the trailer for this movie, the film itself still looks set to be a masterpiece and Tom Hardy looks like he’ll be a frighteningly good Eddie Brock!

Halloween (October 19)

Forty years on from the original Halloween, Jamie Lee Curtis is returning as franchise icon Laurie Strode as well as Danny McBride is helping to write the script and John Carpenter to produce and score.

Halloween 2018

Even the original man behind the mask, Nick Castle, is back to reprise his role as knife enthusiast turned serial killer Michael Myers. All things considered, we may have a revived slasher horror masterpiece on our hands this October.

Halloween 2018

The 2018 movie sees Laurie Strode coming to her final confrontation with Michael Myers, the masked figure who has haunted her since she narrowly escaped his killing spree on Halloween night four decades ago.

X-Men: Dark Phoenix (November 2)

This new X-Men film is the twelfth installment in the X–Men film series and is expected to be the beginning of a new X-Men trilogy. The film is going to be a direct adaptation of the comic book series “The Dark Phoenix Saga” in which the X-Men must face the full power of the Phoenix after a mission to space goes wrong.

The Solar Flare eventually corrupts Jean Grey and leads to the uprising of what is known as the Phoenix Force.

This movie will give Sophie Turner the chance to show us the same acting mettle that we’ve already seen in Game of Thrones.

Creed 2 (November 21)

The first Creed movie was born from the ashes of the Rocky franchise and continued the legacy on excellently. The sequel looks to be just as good. Sylvester Stallone has hinted that this time Donnie will go up against the son of Ivan Drago. Drago was the character that killed Apollo in Rocky IV.

creed

2015’s Creed excelled in its ability to intertwine the origin story of wrestling newcomer Adonis Johnson with the legacy of a cinematic icon, so of course, it’s exciting to see what this next chapter holds for both Adonis and Rocky.

creed 2

After the first film, Adonis Creed becomes the newly crowned light-heavyweight champion. Adonis is once again under the tutelage of Rocky Balboa for what may be the hardest fight in his career. Vitor Drago, the son of Ivan Drago. Creeds father was killed by Ivan.

December Movies 2018

Holmes and Watson (December 7)

Unfortunately, there isn’t a Step Brothers 2 on the way (yet)…

However, there is a new film coming from the guys that featured in it. Will Ferrell and John C Reilly are once again teaming up in the upcoming American action-mystery comedy film: Holmes and Watson.

step brothers

The movie will represent the third collaboration between Ferrell and Reilly following 2006’s “Talladega Nights” and 2008’s “Step Brothers.”

holmes and watson

The film is a humorous take on Arthur Conan Doyle’s classic mysteries featuring Sherlock Holmes and Doctor Watson. With a cast featuring Will Ferrell, John C Reilly, Rob Brydon and Hugh Laurie, this is certain to be one of the funniest movies of 2018!

Spider-Man: Into The Spider Verse (December 14)

If you’re a fan of superhero movies whether animated or live action, 2018 is shaping up to be quite a year for you!

This animated movie introduces Brooklyn teen Miles Morales, alongside the limitless possibilities of the Spider-Verse, where more than one can wear the mask. Other than this, not much is known about the film.

spider-man into the spider verse

Bitten by a slightly different genetically engineered spider than the one that granted Peter Parker’s powers, Miles Morales possesses abilities similar to the original Spider-Man’s, including enhanced strength and agility, the ability to adhere to walls and ceilings with his hands and feet, and a “spider sense” that warns him of danger with a buzzing sensation in his head.

spider-man into the spider verse

Though his strength and agility are similar to those of the original Spider-Man, his spider-sense is not as strong, as it only warns him of immediate danger.

If that seems intimidatingly confusing, take comfort in the fact that it’s written by The Lego Movie scribes Phil Lord and Chris Miller alongside Gravity Falls creator Alex Hirsch. Plus, it has the voice of Mahershala Ali and that, alone, is likely to be worth the price of admission.

Mary Poppins Returns (December 21)

The always wonderful Emily Blunt replaces Julie Andrews as the magical English supernanny for this musical sequel. Blunt will appear alongside Lin-Manuel Miranda, Meryl Streep, Colin Firth, and even Dick Van Dyke to name a few with the latter returning for an undisclosed cameo role.

mary poppins returns

In Depression-era London, a now-grown Jane and Michael Banks, along with Michael’s three children, are visited by the enigmatic Mary Poppins following a personal loss.

Through her unique magical skills, and with the aid of her friend Jack, she helps the family rediscover the joy and wonder missing in their lives.

mary poppins returns

Considering Disney’s strong recent history with modern reboots from its back catalogue, from The Jungle Book to Beauty and the Beast, this could well turn out to be the Mary Poppins sequel we never knew we needed.

Bohemian Rhapsody (December 28)

If you’re a music buff, you’ll recognise the man above as one of the most iconic lead singers of all time: Freddie Mercury.

Queen vocalist Freddie Mercury, one of the most iconic musicians of the modern era, will be the focal point of the upcoming band biopic Bohemian Rhapsody.

Mr. Robot star Rami Malek will portray the man regarded by many as the greatest multifaceted singer, songwriter, and producer of all time, with director Dexter Fletcher replacing original director Bryan Singer behind the camera.

In December of this year, we’re getting a chronicle film about the band Queen in the years running up to their legendary 1985 performance at Live Aid.

rami malek

Bohemian Rhapsody will chronicle the period between the band’s formation in the 1970s and Mercury’s death in 1991, with Queen band members Brian May and Roger Taylor serving as producers on the film.

The China Hustle (TBC)

From the producers of Enron: The smartest guys in the room comes a Wall Street heist story about a still-unfolding financial crime so big, it has the power to affect all of our wallets.

the china hustle

Capitalism. The hardworking can benefit handsomely, but so can the criminals. The China Hustle blows the lid off of a multibillion-dollar heist built on complex financial instruments and a whole lot of smoke and mirrors.
