Laura Ashley is an iconic UK brand, named after the Welsh fashion and textile designer herself.

Known for her iconic prints and romantic aesthetic, Laura Ashley is a heritage design house that stood the test of time through their luxury and utmost quality.

As one of the first retailers to stock a wide range of the brand’s best selling products, we are taking a deeper look into what the brand is about and why Laura Ashley still loved in interiors to this day.

About Laura Ashley

The humble beginnings of the Laura Ashley brand is dated back in 1953 when Laura and Bernard Ashley started their iconic home and lifestyle venture.

After taking inspiration for a Women’s Institute exhibition at the V&A museum, they took what they’d seen back to their small London flat and printed by hand their first scraps of fabric from their kitchen table.

They learnt the trade of printing from library books. A year later they officially formed the brand and bought a printing machine to sell fabrics by the yard. Their distinctive prints and designs initially sold on tea towels were an instant success, opening a showroom and selling out quickly.

Expanding quickly, the iconic British brand was formed. Moving to larger premises, opening factories and even moving into fashion. The brand is recognised with a Queen’s award in 1977 and continues with a global takeover. Even being asked to redesign Washington’s US embassy.

In modern day, the brand continues to bring innovative concepts and archive prints to the collection to continue the distinctive handwriting and style that we so know and love.

Laura Ashley Homeware

Bring a touch and accent of this heritage British brand by adding in homeware and accessories.

Cushions are a wonderful way to breathe some fresh colour, prints and shapes into your interior.

Adding them onto your sofas, armchairs or beds can bring a trend or seasonal take to your decor, allowing you to easily switch them out without having to rehaul your entire interior.

Try a style like this Parterre Floral cushion, featuring an iconic Laura Ashley print using soft and romantic florals.

The sea spray blue mixed with the white brings a modern feel to a classic take on print. Creating a piece that is quintessentially heritage Laura Ashley.

If you’d like to bring a true statement piece into your home, try this Peacock Cushion.

Throws can work similarly to cushions in their ability to bring in colour, prints and even texture to bring levels to an interior.

Best placed in living spaces or bedrooms, Laura Ashley’s collection features throws and blankets of quality craft with beautiful designs and luxury fabrications. Perfect for keeping you warm in colder months as well as bring in new hues and shapes.

Texture can often be hard to bring into decor, which is why a woven throw like this Peyton style can bring it rather than opting for a difficult to work with boucle sofa or shaggy rug.

The contrasting weave of the soft cream and blush makes a chevron like design with a depth and glow. The fringing adds a contemporary touch to this chic and feminine throw.

For a different palette and texture, opt for this Lewes Quilted Throw.
