UK Interior Design Shows and Events in 2017
2017 so far, has been an exciting year for interior design. From trendy upcoming designs to bold colour schemes. 2017’s interior trends have excited many interior devotees. Another important feature of 2017 has been that there are still numerous interior design events to come this year.
Nationally renowned events, trade fairs, and design festivals can be enjoyed every year and many attract tens of thousands of visitors. The Rug Seller has rounded up some upcoming Interior Design events to come. We’ve divided the events by whether they are home or trade based, and then to date, to help you keep the diary up-to-date for the rest of 2017.

Scotland’s Trade Fair

Scotland Trade Fair is a 2-day event being held from 17th to 18th September 2017 at the Scottish Exhibition & Conference Centre (SECC) in Glasgow, Scotland. Many local and national suppliers will be amongst the 160 companies exhibiting including suppliers of Homewares, Textiles, Jewellery, Accessories, Scottish Products, Beauty and Bath Products, Stationery and Giftware. It is one of the last buying opportunities in the year for retailers to source both new products and meet new suppliers in time for Christmas.
The show typically sees around 1750 trade buyers from department stores, multiples, mail-order, online, tourist attractions and independent retail outlets. With its roots in the Highlands & Islands for over 30 years. From Inverness to Aviemore and latterly down to Glasgow, the show has been the number one destination for buyers from all over Scotland, the UK and the world who wish to source Scottish made and Scottish themed products.

London Design Festival

The London Design Festival is another city-wide event that celebrates London’s thriving design sphere over nine days. The annual festival has been showcasing the work of designers, architects, artists and retailers since 2003. Now in its fifteenth year, the Festival will be returning to venues and institutions across the city between the 16-24 September 2017. During the festival, hundreds of large-scale installations, exhibitions, and events pop up in many unique spaces across London, from world-famous museums to small local studios.
The program ranges from major international exhibitions to trade events, installations to talks and seminars, from product launches to receptions, private views, and parties. Explore a range of creative installations and events celebrating contemporary design during the London Design Festival 2017 (LDF). Decorex has become a key event within London’s Design Festival. 100% Design

Returning this year is one of the UK’s largest trade events for architects and designers. 100% Design is the largest and longest running contemporary design event for industry professionals in the UK. The award-winning show is divided into four key industry sectors; Interiors, Workplace, Kitchens & Bathrooms and Design & Build. As the outstanding meeting place for business and design, 100% design is a vast showcase for more than 400 architects, product designers, and interiors specialists.
Diving the Olympia exhibition centre into areas for the workplace, interiors and emerging brands, the fair hosts product launches for decorative lighting, furniture, and fittings as well as providing a platform for newcomers also. First staged in 1995, the show is the cornerstone event of the London Design Festival, with over 27,000 visitors to the show across 4 days in September; taking place in one of London’s most inspiring venues, Olympia London.

London Design Fair is a popular trade show open to both trade visitors and members of the public. London Design Fair hosts the largest collection of international exhibitions. Previously known as Tent London and Super Brands London, this huge fair is reborn as ‘London Design Fair’ in 2016. Grand Designs Live is set to return to the NEC from 11-15 October 2017. Formally based on the hugely successful Channel 4 TV series. Launched in London in 2004, and in Birmingham, in 2005 the show has won multiple industry awards has been hailed ‘the UK’s most successful exhibition launch in the last decade’.
